Belt promotions are always a special time at our academy, marking our students' hard work, dedication, and progress. Last night, we held our second belt promotion ceremony in Palo Alto, and we couldn't be more grateful for the incredible turnout. It wasn't just about the students earning new belts—it was about the team coming together, showing support, and sharing in each other's success.
Congratulations to everyone who was promoted! Your commitment and effort have paid off; this milestone is a testament to your growth on the mats. For those who didn't receive the promotion they were hoping for, keep putting in the work and trusting the process. Your time will come.
A special shoutout to Connie and Bryce! If you've attended our adult classes, chances are you've met Connie. She's a dedicated student who consistently trains six days a week. In 2023, she became a Master World Champion in the Blue Belt M1 division—a huge achievement. Despite her success and hard work, she didn't meet the IBJJF timelines for receiving a purple belt as the requirement is two years at blue belt. This didn't deter her in the slightest; she continued to work hard, progress, and evolve. Last night, awarding her with a well-deserved purple belt was an absolute pleasure. Congrats Connie!
On the other hand, Bryce may not be as familiar to those who primarily attend adult classes in Palo Alto. He works a lot and spends his time training between HQ and Palo Alto. His love for Jiu Jitsu is evident to anyone who trains with him, and we were very surprised at how well he did on the test. Bryce, amazing job! Keep training consistently. You make everyone around you better, and I couldn't be happier for you.
Our head instructor, Bruno Ueda, reached an incredible milestone as well! Professor Caio awarded him his first degree. His dedication to Jiu-Jitsu is evident in the way he supports and uplifts everyone around him. He not only dedicates countless hours to his own training but also continuously strives to learn and teach at the highest level. His commitment and leadership inspire us all—congratulations, Coach Bruno!
No matter where you are in your journey, you will progress as long as you keep training. Remember, Jiu Jitsu doesn't require strength, flexibility, or athleticism—it only requires consistency. This art is for everyone, and the only comparison worth making is with the person you were yesterday.
Thank you to everyone for supporting our team!! Let's keep training, learning, and lifting each other up! See you on the mats.
