This week in CTA classes, we’re staying focused on the mount position. We'll begin by learning the classic cross choke from mount, a staple submission famously used by Roger Gracie. Midweek, we’ll shift to other methods of escaping the mount, starting with the UPA. Later in the week, we’ll work on the hip press. We’ll emphasize the importance of quickly recognizing which escape to use—hesitation or waiting too long between attempts can give your opponent time to settle and make your job much harder.
In CTB class this week, we’ll focus on defending the back and recovering guard using efficient, reliable techniques that help you regain control in tough situations. We’ll also cover how to finish opponents with cross collar chokes from the back—one of the most effective and high-percentage submissions in BJJ. Expect a balance of defense and attack as we sharpen both ends of your game.
In CTC class this week, we’re shifting our focus to the closed guard. We’ll start by learning how to deal with opponents who try to stand and open our guard, using timing and grips to stay in control. Later in the week, we’ll dive into the omoplata from closed guard—an effective submission that works especially well against bigger, stronger opponents. Expect to sharpen both your defensive reactions and your submission game from this classic position.
