This week in CTC class, we’ll circle back to the De La Riva guard, one of the most essential open guards to master from the bottom. We’ll focus on how to use it effectively to control distance, set up sweeps, and create attacking opportunities.
We’ll also cover how to deal with the De La Riva from the top position, learning reliable ways to break grips, clear the hook, and pass with control. Whether you prefer to play guard or stay on top, understanding both sides of this position is key to developing a complete game.
