In CTA class this week, we’ll continue developing our standing game, starting with the single leg takedown. We’ll review effective ways to enter and how to transition when our opponent tries to escape, ensuring we can still finish the takedown or transition to the back. We’ll also go over a simple and effective way to escape and counter the single leg using the arm-out guillotine.
Later in the week, we’ll work on pulling to closed guard and attacking when our opponent stands to escape. To finish the week, we’ll shift our focus to the fundamentals of the closed guard, beginning with the arm lock—a classic submission that remains one of the most important techniques in Jiu Jitsu.
In CTB class this week, we’ll continue our focus on the closed guard, reviewing the sleeve drag attack—a fundamental technique that opens up a wide range of options, including arm bars, back takes, chokes, and sweeps. The sleeve drag is a must-have in every grappler’s arsenal, offering control and transitions from one of the most classic positions in Jiu Jitsu.
Later in the week, we’ll shift our attention to half guard, starting with the sleeve drag from half guard. This variation emphasizes taking the back but can also lead to sweeps and other strong attacking opportunities. Understanding how to connect these guards will help build a more complete and fluid bottom game.
In CTC class this week, we’ll continue our focus on the deep half guard. We’ll learn effective ways to pass the position, as well as how to use the waiter sweep to reverse and transition to the back with control.
Later in the week, we’ll move into the reverse half guard, focusing on how to pass efficiently and how to deal with the position when you’re on the bottom. We’ll cover a simple yet effective method to counter and recover, helping you stay safe and maintain strong positioning from all angles.
