In CTC class this week, we will start with the 50/50 guard. This position is highly effective for guard recovery and creates strong opportunities to sweep from the bottom, while also being very difficult to pass from the top. We’ll explore how to use the position both offensively and defensively, and why it has become such an important guard to understand at higher levels of Jiu Jitsu.
Later in the week, we will shift our focus to the collar sleeve guard, a very strong guard that opens the door to numerous attacks such as the armlock, triangle, and omoplata. This guard provides excellent control over your opponent’s posture and movement, making it one of the most effective platforms for building a submission game.
