Last weekend, CTA Athlete and Kids program director Thamara Ferreira completed the 2023 IBJJF No Gi World Championship. She won her first three matches in dominating fashion, submitting her way into the finals! There, she faced multiple-time world champion Gabi Mccombs. Tamara was ahead for most of the match, but in the last minute, Gabi was able to score and secure the victory. Although all losses are tough, Thamara is even tougher and will be back better because of this experience!
Also competing from CTA Palo Alto was Lora Lipman, who went on to win the purple belt masters 4 division. Connie Wong did exceptionally well, capturing 2nd. Coach Benji Silva tested himself in the adult black belt division and fell short.
Congrats to everyone who tested themselves on one of the world's biggest stages. You are all the better for the experience. Thank you to everyone who helped prepare and support the athletes in the journey! Can't wait to see what 2024 has in store!
