In our CTA classes this week, we will continue our focus on the mount position. We’ll begin by learning how to apply a proper armlock from mount, emphasizing the use of the S-mount to maintain strong control and how to effectively break our opponent’s grips when they defend. Later in the week, we’ll shift our attention to the kimura from mount—a simple yet highly effective submission that works across all levels of Jiu Jitsu. To finish the week, we’ll go over the classic cross choke from mount, a timeless technique made famous by Roger Gracie, one of the greatest BJJ competitors of all time.
In CTB class this week, we will continue our study of back control and defense. We’ll begin by reviewing the armlock from the back and then move on to learning how to defend against it, as well as how to escape when caught on the choking side of back control. As the week continues, we’ll revisit turtle position escapes, focusing on staying calm and creating opportunities to recover guard or reverse the position. To finish the week, we’ll shift gears to standing, reviewing double-leg takedowns, transitions to the body lock, and a variety of ways to control and submit your opponent from the top—culminating with the Ezekiel choke.
In CTC class this week, we will review the closed guard and focus on how to counter effectively when an opponent stands up to open our guard. We’ll work on maintaining control, creating angles, and transitioning to strong attacking positions. To finish off the week, we’ll take a deep dive into the omoplata, exploring not only how to set it up but also how to transition to the crucifix when our opponent attempts to roll out and escape—turning their defense into another opportunity to attack.
