One of the biggest changes as you improve in Jiu-Jitsu is that you stop seeing techniques as separate moves. You start noticing the same patterns over and over. The way someone posts their hand, shifts their weight, or reacts to pressure creates opportunities you've seen before.
At first it feels like you're memorizing techniques. Later on, you realize you're recognizing situations. That's when Jiu-Jitsu starts to feel less like following steps and more like solving problems in real time.
